Cyber-Maker-Space

We've been hosting makerspace classes and events at the Ferguson Library for a few years now, providing tools and instruction for people who'd like to create or learn something new. Podcasting! 3D printing! Computer programming! Knitting! Digital self-defense! Bookbinding! And so on.

Always on the make.

Of course, it's a lot harder to run a makerspace when your space has been made empty on account of a worldwide pandemic. Classes cancelled! Borrowable ukuleles and sewing machine trapped in the library with all the other books and goodies!
Thus we're launching this maker blog, to help keep the spirit of curiosity and creativity alive as we rattle around our abodes and look for engaging ways to occupy the time.
The library, though its doors remain closed to the public, has continued to serve the community in many ways. The makerspace has put its 3D printers to work as part of an effort to provide personal protective equipment to health care workers. Here you can see the machines hard at work, churning out visors for face shields:

Many of us have gotten crafty by making our own face masks; if you'd like to try your hand at it, here are instructions from the New York Times and the hunky doc from CNN.
Most of the stores are closed, folks! It's time to learn how to make our own bread, or at least make our own fun.
